🐴 Why Choose a Horsemanship Trail Ride Over a Regular Trail Ride?

A Horsemanship Trail Ride offers a deeper, more rewarding experience than a standard trail ride. Instead of just hopping on a horse and following the group, you’ll get to connect, learn, and truly partner with your horse.

🌟 What is Horsemanship?

Horsemanship is the art of understanding, communicating with, and caring for horses. It’s about more than just riding—it's about building trust, respect, and confidence between you and your horse, both on the ground and in the saddle.

🐎 With Our Horsemanship Trail Ride, You’ll:

  • Groom & Saddle your horse (we teach you how!)

  • Learn basic horse communication & safety

  • Practice handling & mounting with guidance

  • Enjoy a guided trail ride with the horse you’ve prepared

  • Gain real skills—not just a ride

✅ Best For:

  • First-timers who want to really learn

  • Adults who want a peaceful, hands-on horse experience

  • Anyone curious about horses—not just passengers

If you want to connect with a horse, not just ride one, then horsemanship is the way to go.

📅 Book your Horsemanship Trail Ride today and experience the difference!

This is a hybrid lessons you will learn grooming, saddling, mounting, the basics of riding and if you and your guest are confident and comfortable the lesson will end in a trail ride on our beautiful 20 acre property.

Trail riding with horses offers a rewarding experience, but it also comes with inherent risks that r

Common Risks in Trail Riding

  • Falls and Head Injuries: Falling from a horse is a primary cause of serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). Despite helmet use, severe injuries can occur, especially if the horse loses footing on wet or uneven terrain. thesilverlining.com

  • Horse Behavior: Horses can be unpredictable and may react suddenly to stimuli such as loud noises, sudden movements, or other animals. Such reactions can lead to riders being off balance and falling off the horse, horse bucking, and/or bolting running off.

  • Environmental Hazards: Natural elements like uneven trails, low-hanging branches, or unexpected wildlife encounters can pose risks. For instance, insects, such as mosquito, no nats, flies, bees or wasps can be disturbed by horses, leading to stings and potential reaction to the horse.

🧰 Safety Measures for Riders and Horses

  • Protective Gear: Always wear a helmet to reduce the risk of head injuries. Helmets are required for riders under 18 years old and optional for riders over 18 years old. We recommend HELMETS FOR ALL RIDERS. Additionally, consider wearing a body protector to safeguard against falls. All Riders need to come in long pants and closed toed shoes, no large heels.

  • Be Prepared: Be prepared for the time you are schedule to be at the barn. Bring a refillable water container, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, layers if you get cold or hot, snacks, medications whatever you and your guest may need for the times of your services.

  • Rider Fitness: Horse riding does require the rider to be physically able to mount, and dismount form the ground. Riders need to be able to sit up in the saddle without holding the saddle horn. Riders need good balance and posture. Rider's weight CAN NOT exceed 20% of the horse's weight, to include tack. Riders should not ride horse if they have a pre-existing medical condition that could worsen with injury. Rider needs to have the stamina to ride the entirety of their booked services to prevent fatigue-related accidents.

  • Weather: Weather conditions need to be free of lighting and thunder, high winds, and extreme heat and cold.

🐎 Environmental and Trail Etiquette

  • Stay on Designated Trails: Veering off marked paths can lead to environmental degradation and increase the risk of accidents due to unknown terrain.

  • Respect Other Trail Users: Communicate with other riders to ensure safe passing. Slow down when approaching others and announce your presence.
